With over 20 years experience playing and providing private flute instruction, Maggie Wood is a sought after teacher on Long Island’s East End, including Eastern Suffolk County, the North Fork and the Hamptons. Her students consistently receive the highest scores at NYSSMA and are seated first in their respective band and orchestral ensembles at the local and regional levels.
Ms. Wood holds an undergraduate degree from Smith College and a Masters from UMass Amherst, where she was principal flute in the orchestra and various chamber and wind ensembles. Ms. Wood studied under Patricia Joyce Wood, a student of Francis Blaisdell, who in turn was a student of the great French flutist Georges Barrere and other flute giants such as Marcel Moyse and William Kincaid.
Ms. Wood has also studied with Keith Underwood, Eleanor Lawrence, Jan Vinci and Jeffrey Khaner, Principal flute of the Philadelphia Orchestra.
